Who was Kannappa:
Kannappa, originally a hunter, became a devotee of the Hindu god Shiva. His story is closely associated with the Srikalahasteeswara Temple in Andhra Pradesh, and he is regarded as a saint in the Tamil Shaiva tradition. He offered devotion to a Shiva Lingam, even going so far as to offer his own eyes. Before he could sacrifice both eyes, Shiva appeared and stopped him.

The first look of Akshay Kumar:
The makers of Kannappa released the first look of actor Akshay Kumar from the film on 20th January 2025. The actor looks sincere as he embodies the Hindu deity on the poster, wearing a white dhoti, and carrying the holy Shiva symbols, including a trishul (trident) and a damru (small hand drum).

Akshay Kumar Carrier as Lord Shiva:
This marks the second time Akshay Kumar will portray Lord Shiva on screen. Previously, he played the role in the Pankaj Tripathi-starrer Oh My God 2. In the first look poster of Kannappa, Akshay’s depiction of Shiva is striking, particularly with Kannappa. throat, which symbolizes the god carrying the poison in his throat, a reference to the mythological story of the churning of the ocean. The visual stands out, reinforcing Akshay's powerful and symbolic portrayal of Lord Shiva.

Kannappa Direction & Cast:
Kannappa is directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh and features actor Vishnu Manchu in the titular role. The film is about one of the biggest Lord Shiva's devotees named Kannappa. It also stars Malayalam superstar Mohanlal, Kajal Aggarwal, along with R Sarathkumar, Preity Mukundan, Arput Ranka, Kaushal Manda and Devaraj, among others.
Bidget & Language :
The film is being made on a big budget, and will be released in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, Hindi and English. Produced by Vishnu's father and legendary actor Mohan Babu.
Release Date:
The film is slated to hit the screens on April 25.
